Here’s some of the common ones.
We generally work with the Zenmuse X5S for the payload, which means up to 25 minutes of flight time. We land, change the batteries, and resume the flight. There’s also an option for ‘tethering’ the drone with a power source on the ground allowing for far greater flight times – but with the obvious restrictions of having a line connected from the craft to ground level.
The regulations are strict on this, so we carry a sizeable public liability and indemnity insurance, which can be raised still further if required for specific projects.
The Inspire 2 is capable of flight up to 3.5km from the controller – although the CAA restrict to something called VLoS – which means we always fly the drones where they can still be viewed by the pilot. Additionally, the regulations restrict this to 500m horizontally, and 400ft vertically.
We only use Inspire 2s, with Zenmuse X5S camera. Details are elsewhere on the site.
Although we have skilled and qualified drone pilots, to get those incredible shots, and cinema quality, our videographer is in control of the camera remotely and able to create her stunning videography independently of the craft’s movements.
